Short Courses

The Children's Centre offers families various training courses throughout the year and wherever possible we will provide creche facilities too. Currently courses are generally run on Tuesday mornings or Thursday afternoons during school hours.  Occasionally we run First Aid on a Saturday or the Parenting Puzzle in the evening.  If you're interested in a course that is not currently running get in touch and we can add your name to a waiting list.

All courses are FREE to families with children from birth to 11 years unless otherwise stated. Please be aware that some of our courses may have entry requirements. Please ask a member of staff.

Each year all families are given the opportunity to complete a survey about the types of courses they might like, this helps us to make sure we offer relevant courses for parents.

We've listed a few courses here to give you an idea of what we've had on offer here:-

First Aid - always popular, we offer this regularly throughout the year - call us to find out when the next one will be running.

Parenting Puzzle - lots of ideas to help you deal with your toddler/child's behaviour, as well as looking into why children behave like they do.

Preparing to help in Schools -  really useful if you're thinking of volunteering at school or interested in how children learn so you can support your child with their homework.

Managing money - offers budgeting ideas as well as how to manage debts

English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) - a really useful course to help with understanding English

Healthy Eating Family Cookery - Stuck for ideas but want to try to eat more healthily? This could be the course to help you make those changes.

We've also offered some short 1-2 week workshops e.g. -

Stress Management

Knit & Natter

Value of Play

Transition to pre-school/nursery

Gruffalo Story Workshop

Gardening Workshop

Creche's

The creche we offer is held here in our child friendly playroom. Staff running the creche also hold relevant childcare qualifications. All staff and volunteers are DBS checked.  We take pride in offering children a safe, fun and happy learning environment to play in. Staff liaise very closely with parents to ensure children feel completely settled. If a child becomes upset once you have left them in our care, we will always quickly contact you.
